Julia Cocuzza Art Show

Gallery Opening September 8, 2023 | 6:00 – 8:00 PM

Trinity Lutheran Church | 527 Washington Street

Born and raised in Reading, Pennsylvania, Julia Cocuzza is a painter, muralist, illustrator, and educator based in Brooklyn, New York since 2004. Working in oil, acrylic, and mixed media, her art is inspired by the loaded intersections, layers, and fragments of daily living with a particular affection for urban structures, natural systems, music, obsolete media, social collisions, and human connection. Her primary focus is public art and she has led major community-based mural projects across New York City, collaborating with a wide range of partners including Groundswell, NYC Mural Art Project, ArtBridge, NY Philharmonic, Moulin Rouge! The Musical, Sing For Hope, and numerous municipal agencies.

She has exhibited in galleries across the northeast, received artist residencies from Wassaic Art Project (New York) and Prairie Center of the Arts (Illinois), and apprenticed with Mural Arts Philadelphia. A proud graduate of Reading High School, she has a Bachelor of Fine Art from Syracuse University, Master of Fine Art from Brooklyn College, and currently works as an adjunct instructor for the City University of New York and Montclair State University.
